● Build Partnerships.
● Coordinate Experiences.
Develop Professional Skills for Future Careers
Initiative 1
Describe in detail the plan associated with implementing this quality practice.
Our objective is to conduct training and professional development in career pathways for member school
districts to expand work-based learning opportunities for k-12 students and facilitate curriculum revisions
so that programming is aligned with changes in our local job market.
Our goals are to increase awareness and understanding of the benefits to creating rigorous career
pathways; review the funding mechanisms in place to support current and new pathways; foster
networking and collaboration opportunities for Districts to share resources and best practices; provide
professional development for current career-tech instructors aligned by careers to create learning
communities. Over the past year, our local member Districts have created several programs in the middle
grades to comply with ORC. These programs need continued support to align with the local industry needs
and skill set. We will build upon our success in creating these classes to expand to full pathways that lead
through high school. We will review local employment data, professional skills and career trends with our
business advisory council and through our educator bootcamps. This will enable us to create meaningful
classroom activities and provide exposure to in-demand careers through career pathways. Lastly, we will
engage in curriculum reviews of current programming to ensure competencies are aligned with the needs
of our local business community.
